The following project consists of the creation of a pin for Hard Rock Café Valencia, having to represent the essence of the city in it. In the context of the work, homage is paid to the Valencian architect Joan Guardiola, highlighting his most famous work, La Casa Judía, built in 1930 in the Ruzafa neighbourhood. This building is considered an iconic element in the capital.
Guardiola’s works, including La Casa Judía, are clearly identified with the art deco style, characterised by the incorporation of elements from different periods and cultures.
The illustration of the project, depicted linearly, has been created as a flat, synthesised representation of the upper part of the building. The final version is shown with the colours taken from the original work, highlighting distinctive elements of the building.
The pin design incorporates two significant shapes: the body of a guitar and a pick, both linked to music and Hard Rock. The final combination features the illustration within the body of an acoustic guitar, highlighting the columns as the neck and positioning the Hard Rock logo strategically to resemble the sound hole of the guitar. In addition, a pick containing a detail of the illustration is incorporated and attached to the pin by a chain.
A realistic simulation of the pin is provided, as well as what the pin would look like on denim, offering a practical representation. This design fuses Guardiola’s architectural aesthetic with elements of musical culture, creating a unique and symbolic piece.
